The event is in collaboration with the Yale Law School, Yale School of the Environment, Yale School of Public Health, the MacMillan Center’s Program on Peace and Development, and the Yale Center for Environmental Justice. The conference will feature a keynote by Marina Silva, the Brazilian Minister of the Environment, as well as other key indigenous rights leaders and scholars in this field. The panels will focus on the effects of climate change, the importance of indigenous rights, and the urgency for awareness regarding the ongoing political conflict within the Amazon.

This conference is in honor of the journalists, writers, and activists Dom Phillips and Bruno Pereira who were killed in the Amazon in June 2022.
